Introduction to Full Brioche (hat)
This class is for advanced beginners to learn the wonderful, squishy world of brioche! This will be a series of three 2 hour classes that will take you through the process of knitting a two color brioche (and fully reversible!) hat from cast on to weaving in ends.
Skills taught in class:
- German twisted cast on
- Two color brioche
- Brioche increases and decreases
- Magic loop or double pointed needle small circumference with brioche
Skills required:
- Knowledge of how to knit and purl
Suggested known skills
- Knitting in the round
- Ability to "read" stitches in stockinette (telling the difference between a knit and purl in your work)
- Ability to pick up dropped stitches in stockinette
Required materials:
- US3 16 inch circular needles
- US4 16 inch circular needles
- US4 32 inch (or more) circular needles (for finishing crown with magic loop)
- If you prefer double pointed needles for circular knitting, you will need US3 and US4 DPNs
- 4 stitch markers, one of which is a different color
- Curated yarn kits with pattern available at Yarn Bits and Bobs. Kits are available beginning February 1 in store or online.
- Having a crochet hook to pick up stitches can be helpful, but is not required.
